How to apply:
The Illinois Hammer is invested in our community and deeply believes in its future. We are now accepting applications for a $4,000 scholarship to assist the leaders of tomorrow in furthering their education. To apply, please read the conditions and criteria below and if you’re eligible, fill out the form below, which includes a 300-500 word essay. Please pay careful attention to the essay prompt. A new winner of the $4,000 Scholarship will be announced quarterly. This quarter only we are offering a $4,000 Scholarship.
Deadline to apply for this quarter is November 23, 2018. Winner will be announced on December 7, 2018.
Must be at least a Junior in high school or enrolled in an accredited university. Scholarship will be released directly to the school once proof of enrollment is received to our office. Winner must sign a media release and be available for interview. This is a needs-based scholarship, winner must provide tax records indicating parent(s) or guardian make less than $50k a year if they are selected. Please speak to your parent or guardian before applying to make sure this qualification is met. Must be a current resident in Illinois. Please only apply once per quarter.

- Each quarter a new prompt and essay criteria will be chosen and featured in the below “Determination Criteria”
- Due to the wonderful amount of applicants, we will close submissions if we receive 200 essays before we meet the deadline; If this occurs, we will make an announcement on this page
- If you were a previously selected winner, you may not apply again
Upon applying, each potential scholarship recipient’s essay will be reviewed by three judges: the senior partner of the law firm at Dworkin & Maciariello, The Director of Communications at Dworkin & Maciariello, and an Illinois school teacher that has over 20 years of experience in the classroom. The essay will be judged based on creativity, syntax, and unique interpretation of the prompt. Once the winning essay is selected it will be confirmed that the potential recipient meets conditions necessary, which are stated at IllinoisHammer.com/Scholarship.
