Dana Djokic

Before joining the Law Offices of Dworkin and Maciariello, the Illinois Hammer Injury Law Firm, Dana Djokic worked in-house for AIG Staff Counsel from December 2006 through December 2018 handling the defense of workers’ compensation claims of various complexities. She has tried a substantial number of cases and had oral arguments before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission. She changed her career focus to pursue her passion of representing injured workers in the State of Illinois.  She is not intimidated by insurance companies and knows how to communicate with adjusters to advance her clients’ cases.

Dana has a B.A. in English with Honors from Florida Atlantic University. She obtained her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  In 2001, Dana’s article entitled “Coffee? Tea? Or a Pamphlet Detailing your Human Rights?” was published in the International Travel Law Journal (Issue Four). The article discussed the impact of the Air Carrier Access Act (49 U.S.C.S. Section 41705; 14 C.F.R. Section 382, et seq.) on the American airline industry.

After completing her education in Florida, Dana moved back to the Midwest.  She was born in Chicago and grew up in Indiana.  Her father worked for Pullman Standard as a pipefitter and when Pullman closed, he became a truck driver.  Her mother was a laborer at Carl Buddig Meats.  She saw firsthand how injuries were often ignored by employers and is proud to represent ordinary hard-working individuals.

“Working in Workers’ Compensation for the petitioners’ side is important to me because my dad used to come home from work with serious injuries and he was afraid to pursue compensation from employers because he was afraid of losing his job,” Dana said. “My mother also would come home tired and in pain from repetitive use injuries and also was afraid to pursue compensation because she was also afraid of losing her job.  I want to make a difference to people who get injured from doing work they need to do to survive.”

Dana is a member of the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association and the Serbian Bar Association.  She has a conversational proficiency in the Serbian language.  She enjoys nature walks with her two dogs and watching all kinds of documentaries. Dana is licensed in Illinois and in Florida.
