We Like to Move it Move it!

Published on April 21st, 2017 by Bradley Dworkin

The day to day life of a professional mover is chalked full of potential injuries. From slipping on ice in the winter when moving a couple to their dream home, to lifting grandma’s baby grand piano, a mover does wonders for people at all stages of life, the job isn’t easy.

Recently the Illinois Hammer received a case from one such gentleman. During a move he lifted a heavy piece of furniture and felt extreme pain in his bicep. While he was experiencing pain throughout the day he kept working because his employer needed him. Since the pain wasn’t going away he decided to go to the hospital the next day, and upon receiving an MRI he was told he ruptured his bicep tendon.

At first he tried to overcome the injury with physical therapy, but had little improvement. His doctor suggested surgery, and although he was reluctant to do so, he began to think it was necessary. His employer insisted he only needed physical therapy because they did not want to foot the bill for the surgery he needed to get better. Dworkin & Maciariello was able to get a second opinion for him which corroborated his need for surgery and thus convinced his employer that the surgery was imperative.

Now the mover is on the road to recovery by getting the surgery he needs to fix his ruptured bicep tendon. At times an employer may be difficult to handle or convince when it comes to the needs of an employee. Dworkin & Maciariello is thrilled to help such an upstanding person and hard worker. We hope he heels quickly and is back out there soon!
